Knowing what military casualties are.
Deaths were minimized thanks to the heroic techniques developed in field medicine. I don't have space to explain it to you; find a doctor and ask them about techniques invented in Vietnam.

What irony! While American citizens and the general population pay between US$700.00 and US$2,000.00 for emergency ambulance transport in the USA, wounded American and South Vietnamese combatants were transported for free in helicopters and ambulances to military hospitals, receiving free surgeries, medications, ICU treatments, clinical recovery, and complementary therapy. Meanwhile, in the USA, a simple bandage can cost more than US$400.00!
More than 2 million American soldiers served in Vietnam, 700 MD Phantom fighter jets were shot down, 70 B-52 Stratofortress bombers were brought down, every American family had someone maimed, wounded, or killed, and American society was destroyed.
Cassius Clay - Muhammad Ali - , actress Jane Fonda, singer Garfunkel, and half the celebrities marched in hundreds of marches in Washington demanding an end to the Vietnam War, the lies, Henry Kissinger - Secretary of State - who spent more than a decade negotiating with Le Duc Tho and Ngen Van Thieu to end the war.
I saw it, nobody told me Hollywood stories of Vietnam heroes, the American Army distributed drugs to soldiers to help them endure the terror.
In the end, they got tired, exhausted, tried new techniques, the RAF (British Air Force) wrote in its white paper the end of aircraft in the war after studying the Soviet anti-aircraft defense in Vietnam that shot down everything that flew.
