The production of mathematical brains around the world is distributed like this: China comes first in the world producing 1,600,000 mathematicians a year; India trains 650,000 mathematicians a year; Russia trains 510,000 mathematicians a year; Japan trains 190,000 mathematicians a year.

So, since the 80s, the USA should train less than 250 thousand mathematicians a year, and from the 80s until this year 2022, 42 years have passed that multiplied by 250 thousand fewer mathematicians per year, the USA has accumulated a need of 10 million fewer mathematicians to maintain the same levels as in 1980.
