What if the Russians sabotage submarine cables and military installations across the seas?

Now begins a stage of the cold war that never occurred between the former USSR and the USA, never has an American soldier in all history shot a Soviet soldier, there has never been anything like this provocation, including involuntary and accidental submarine collisions, the damage and muffled incidents; when the pilot of the American spy plane U2, considered a meteorological research aircraft by the US government, piloted by North American Garry Powers, was shot down on Soviet soil, the pilot who took poison to commit suicide if captured, was denied his mission by the government and considered non-existent that after all recognized as an intruder, he was exchanged for an American spy.

This new phase of retaliation could have a disastrous consequence if Russia retaliates with sabotage actions through the much more extensive means of canals, pipelines, cables, and installations across the oceans, we don't know where this new unprecedented stage of attack will take just to reinforce that everything it started out as simply the fracking gas war, simple as that.
