The Change
It's time for change in the West.
After the phase of total freedom, the last barrier is almost being overcome without obstacles to stop it, and everyone realizes that the limits are all hanging by a thread in society.
Freedom only exists against a prohibition; freedom is not an absolute concept that can be enjoyed independently and without obstacles of any kind.
On the contrary, freedom can only be perceived and exercised against a prohibition.
Freedom is a reaction against a limitation. Without limitation, freedom cannot be perceived and exercised.
Freedom exists against something, against a law, against a concept, against a prohibition, against a contingency, against some limitation.
The enjoyment of freedom only exists in the face of a limit, whatever it may be.
When there are no limits, freedom cannot be exercised against nothing.
Human beings are symbolic beings, and their actions are a representation of attitudes with social meaning. Without society assisting and interacting, any individual behavior has no meaning for the human being in isolation.
All human acts are social acts and only make sense within the language of symbols and expectations of other individuals in that particular group who are able to decode their meaning within that culture, through gestures, glances, clothing, tattoos, tone of voice, accents, body posture, customs, and structural things like language, which can only exist if at least more than one person can understand and communicate through it, since there cannot be a single language of just one person; more than one person is needed with whom and to whom information can be exchanged. Each human act communicates to others or hides from other humans their unconscious intentions or messages of intentions in public.
Every social act is legal and morally accepted, even regardless of one's private opinion, because every social act is sanctioned by society and the social system, whether or not they are considered immoral or harmful. Society is the sole source of all cruel social acts, or not, and therefore society produces its own form of punishment for acts not tolerated by a part, whether majority or minority, of that same society.
The function of the science of ethics and religious practice aims at a utopia of perfection, or a social dystopia in which nothing unpleasant can be tolerated in society, without us knowing if such a perfect society would be desirable because we have never had that in the history of humanity.
In Universe 25, it was shown in that experiment with a community of rats, where expectations and demands ceased, all the needs of the rat society were met, which fell into apathy due to a lack of fully met needs, the end of any effort for survival.
It was concluded that the lack of negative stimuli can also lead to the destruction of the social structure.
So, how do societal changes occur and what is the mechanism of social change?
In principle, changes have the strong attraction of innovation, even if it is not an evolution, because monotony creates apathy, the greatest of all causes of the social disintegration of superior beings.
The monotony of an anthill or beehive does not affect the routine of these animals; monotony can be fatal for higher animals, such as those species capable of changing their behavior, capable of experiencing moods such as anger, leisure, sadness, loneliness, companionship, loyalty, and feuds.
Change is a strategy to overcome the monotony and anxiety that determines social coexistence. For this, there is art, religion, science, philosophy, social rites, the social setting for the representation of differential social status, this variety of languages in the world with the variants of dialects, the varieties of gastronomy of food and drinks, the variety of skin tones, hair types, heights, body shapes, and features. All of this reflects the constant need for permanent changes in the social system and societal behavior.
Every new behavior produces a rupture that translates into a new rite of passage, with the pioneers suffering much rejection, only for the later adopters to find themselves under pressure to incorporate themselves into the new fads, and the endless cycle repeats itself with each new trend.
The best indicator of change is when the current fashion reaches its peak and the pendulum of imminent change points in the completely opposite direction of the course followed, the tendency to negate current behavior in the opposite direction to the flow.
Then, as Engels would say, the rotten door of fashion is ready to be broken down by inevitable changes, restoring the law of the materialism of History.
