The legend of the free market
From the legend of utilitarianism to the legend of the free market, by Adam Schmith, plus the legend of the invisible hand of the free market, which is guided only by the selfish interest of each person acting freely and which results in the prosperity of all because none of them knows what is best for everyone, but they must know what is best for each one.
Mancur Olson posed the dilemma of the logic of action or collective choice where it would be irrational for an individual to give up their advantages for the common good, for example, when faced with a traffic light, traffic stops so that one of them has an advantage in traffic while the other wastes his time stopped at a red light, while another has his front free at a green light.
This type of individual irrationality is what leads to collective rationality, this type of behavior is not natural and can only be obtained through the decision of another, in the case of traffic, the traffic light decides who is right.
In the real world, Cuba is prevented from participating in world trade only by the will of the USA, the Virgin Islands and Israel, which were the three countries that approved the economic and commercial blockade of Cuba, followed by all the countries that are threatened by the USA to comply with its decision, despite the 194 votes of countries against the cancellation of Cuba.
The legend of the free market is not restricted to blockaded Cuba, it has North Korea, the former USSR, Russia, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Romania, the list goes on to Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Brazil, Argentina, each country suffered an intervention when it tried to buy an aircraft manufactured in Russia, or a helicopter, or anti-CV19 vaccines, or tried to acquire orange juice from Brazil, or coffee from Brazil or Vietnam, the return of two Mistral helicopter carrier warships purchased, built and paid for by Russia to France by order of the USA, the prohibition of the sale of ultraviolet lithography machines for the production of 2-nanometer electronic microprocessors by the Netherlands to China, then the free market goes through the US State Department with the law that excluded Turkey from the Eagle Lightning II F35 aircraft project by the USA already paid for and with the Turkish pilots trained at a price of one million dollars each pilot prepared and ready to receive and fly the F35. The free market does not exist when AIRBUS or LOCKHEAD are prosecuted for paying bribes to scandalize the defense ministers of Germany, Australia, and Japan, with the arrest of the first two and the suicide of the Japanese minister.
The free market does not exist when President Biden applies 27,000 economic sanctions without any decision from the international forums of the UN, WTO, GATT, and only the will of a few countries to affect the entire population of 147 million people.
Even the control of commodities by the highly suspicious stock exchanges of Chicago, London, and Amsterdam is nothing more than a legend of liberalism with bayonets and gunboats.
